Prof. Mohammad Iqbal Khan
He is a medical graduate, Fellow of Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS), and fellow of the Royal College of England (FRCS). In addition to these fellowships, he has earned Master’s in Health Professions Education (MHPE) from Maastricht University Netherlands. He was awarded FCPS- vascular Surgery from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. He has served on various academic, research and clinical positions at National Health Services (NHS), UK prior to his relocation to Pakistan; where he toiled at various clinical, academic, research and administrative positions including Professor of Surgery, Head of the Department, Vice principal at Riphah International University, Dean Health and Medical Sciences at The University of AJK, Founder Principal of AJK Medical College, Dean Health Sciences Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University (STMU). He was cofounder and remained Chairman of the Consortium of Islamic Medical Colleges (CIMCO) for 8 years. He also remained the founder Director of FIMA Save Dignity program (2007-16). He has been holding key positions in many national and international professional bodies like European Society of Vascular Surgeons and World Association for Bioethics etc.
Currently he is working as Vice Chancellor of Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University since 2014. He is co-founder and President of the Society of Vascular surgeons of Pakistan and Chairman of the Board of governors of AEH Jaffer Foundation. He is also member of several National committees on Health and Education. In addition to academic, research and administrative engagements, he is actively involved in clinical practice as Consultant General and Vascular Surgeon at Shifa International Hospitals. He is also Director Health Professions Education program and program director of Bioethics at STMU, visiting faculty at various Universities in Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, UK and Central Asia beside several National universities. He also serves on the examiners panel of various Universities and Colleges including the Royal College of Surgeons. He has 38 years of academic and clinical experience, authored 108 research publications and eight books including books on Medical Ethics and Diabetic Foot to his credit besides several chapters in different books. He has presented over 398 papers, facilitated 142 workshops, national and international and supervised 71 research theses. His main area of interest is vascular surgery, professional ethics and innovation in medical curricula at under and postgraduate level. He has been actively involved in designing modular integrated undergraduate curriculum for five years MBBS programs, five years residency program in Surgery, fellowship program of Vascular Surgery and Master Programs for Health Professions Education, which is implemented at various institutions in Pakistan and abroad. He was instrumental in designing and implementing fellowship program in vascular surgery by the college of physicians and surgeons of Pakistan. He also planned and got registered the Society of Vascular Surgeons of Pakistan. Prof. Khan has been involved in number of volunteer works providing relief to the needy people in natural calamities and manmade disasters both in the country and abroad like 2004 Tsunami in Indonesia, 2005 earthquake and 2009 flood in Pakistan apart from his regular relief works in Pakistan, Sudan, Tanzania, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Palestine, Turkey, Burma, Bangladesh, Malawi, Turkey and other places. He established four field charity hospitals in Pakistan, one each in Kosova, Indonesia, Bosnia and Syria during disasters. His passion is to provide quality healthcare services to those who are not being otherwise taken care of and to provide affordable high quality tertiary education to everyone who strives for that.
